The biggest issue with the K&N is the way it is cleaned. Most do not know
how to clean it properly and most important oil it.  

Pick whatever air filter you want, the true story as to how well it is
keeping dirt out of your engine is by used oil analysis.  I have been
dealing with them for a long time now and with Terry Dyson of Dyson
Analysis. He is not a fan of K&N only because of what I said above, they
don't get serviced properly for the most part. He see's more UOA's come
through with K&N's with high particle counts more than any other filter.
His suggestion is just to get a Fram air filter and change it out every 10k
and you will be golden.  From all the UOA data he see that when his
customers go that route the UOA's show no issues with high silicon readings
and UOA's look better than those trying any other filter.
