Actually, the engine was torn apart because of a blown head gasket.  While
apart, I had the head rebuilt.  As I mentioned, cylinder walls showed NO
sign of wear, not even a carbon lip.  Mechanic said it wasn't needed, but on
the other hand suggested doing a re-hone and re-ring while it was apart
would be cheaper than having to do it separately later.

have the equipment to measure absolute pressures and perssure differentials
down to a millionth of an atmosphere - and can tell you that the K&N stuff
does not flow that well at all."

This is contrary to the others test.

Best filter was the AC, 99.3%, and the K&N came in at 96.8% (you can see the
graph at the link, I had to remove it because of size).

My comment:

99.93% efficiency is outstanding.  96.8% efficiency is still pretty damn
good!

 

Someone mentioned MAF failures.

. 280K km on mine, no issues so far.

 

Someone mentioned grit/oil buildups.

. no sign of this in intake.

 

For those of us who are smarter and better looking than the average,
discussions about things such as air filters and oil are akin to the great
unwashed discussing religion and politics.

 

If you have had issues with a product, don't use it any more.

If you have had good results with a product, stick with it.

 

End of discussion on my part.  I agree to disagree with other folks, but
value the feedback.  Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

 

Let's move on to another topic pls.
