[Vwdiesel] RIP 1982 Rabbit 1.6 n/a

Yes, I meant crank shaft... And I've had it for about two and a half years.
If the body was in better shape, I would consider it. Better to cut my
losses and start fresh. Besides, when I bought this, my original desire was
for a caddy (pickup) not a 2-door, so who knows? My only real regret is
having filled the tank last week... $42.00 down the drain. ($3.899 a
gallon) This has been a fun little car, but it's time to move on.

Joe

Hi Joe
Looking from over here, I can just see you ;;o)
However I cannot see why you have to abandon the vehicle.
I assume by crank case you meant crank.
Crank apparently damaged by old pulley, so new pulley glued on.
New pulley now slipping?? So timing out, is what I think you've said.

I do not see why it cannot be held still with the crank bolt...
With 200lb ft on it it should hold. Then crank to cam timing can be reset,
and then pump retimed to 1mm for example then driven away.[home at least]
A small locking bolt drillled off centre into the crank nose might help.

Am I missing something? How long have you ran this thing? More nut-loc if
neccessary.
In my world, if it starts on it's own, it can be made to run.

Take care,
Mark
