[Vwdiesel] stuck stick in cylinder

This is a great idea!  Use the scope in one hole to see the stick, and some sort of tiny grabber to grab ahold of it.

If you found that the stick is stuck in a valve, you could reinstall the camshaft in the proper orientation to open that valve and cause the stick to drop into the cylinder and then grab it.  Just be careful to have the crank in the right position for setting the camshaft to make sure that no valves are opening in a cylinder where the piston is up, but this shouldn't be too difficult.

Another idea I just thought of. Harbor Freight has a "bore scope" I think it is called. It has a small TV camera on a flexible rod that you can stick inside a cylinder head thru a spark plug hole or possibly an injector hole (after removing the injector). I bought one but haven't used it yet. I have a hunch it is jammed between a valve & a valve seat. As I recall it was fairly inexpensive.
