[Vwdiesel] Banana Rabbit--It gets worse!!

Well, the guy I bought it from said the guy he bought it from this past summer said something about rebuilding the engine or some such thing (though he couldn't remember for sure what they claimed).

So my guess is that the nuts came loose that hold the rod cap on, freeing the rod from the crankshaft.

I am not really sure why the underside of the piston is broken up though. If I were going to guess what happens when the cap comes free, I would have guessed that the piston would just stop and the rod would be hanging by the pin. But perhaps the rod bounced around in there a couple times before the forces broke it from the underside of the piston and it fell in and jammed it in the crankshaft.

Hopefully that piston didn't contact the valves while all this was happening, but they did close when I removed the camshaft.

Due to Snomageddon or whatever, all the schools are closed which means I don't have a lot to do at work. So I might burn a sick day and take it apart to get all the broken bits out and see if there are any more clues.
