Never replace a shell bearing, that upon inspection looks pretty well as it
did when it was installed. A complete waste of money and a potential source
of later trouble.
Check the tensioner whilst you are there by spinning it. If a good spin, and
no rumble then leave this too...

Hmm, if I have to buy bearings for the one cylinder, I imagine I would get a
whole set, right? Why not just replace all of them? Would it be as easy as
unbolting the other rod cap bolts, pushing the rod/piston up a bit,
inserting the bearings and bolting it back together, tightly?
I've done lots of different types of repairs on different vehicles, but this
is the first time I've been inside an engine further than replacing a head
gasket.
