Ya know, I got one 12v lighter plug thing that had a thin plastic sock that
slipped over the end of the male end, to make it a snug fit in the german
car lighter plug.  I have taken to putting a couple wraps of electrical tape
on the end, then razor knifing away the ground points on the plug.  It works
wonders.

I because I am a ham radio operator, I often use the cigar lighter in our
cars to power various communications devices.

I notice the stock lighter sockets in the 2 mature volks in the driveway
have slightly larger sockets than mother's buick.

Also, all the 12 volt toys I buy come with plugs  that won't stay in the
volks sockets without shimming with cardboard.

I have already installed Anderson powerpole(r) connectors in my favorite
mobile platform (the 89TD) and have a compatible "Rigrunner"(r) distribution
panel.

Is this just because Germans have bigger cigars? (sigh)
