Hi Dave;
The engine must have been a pre mid 1981 and has 11mm head bolts.
The three allen head bolts would be non-stretch stock 11mm bolts and the 9
would have been Rabbit Gas 9mm stretch head bolts. Not a sane combo. If the
engine builder had used all 11mm Rabbit Gas stretch head bolts in that 11mm
block that would have been fine but the combo was looking for failure.
Whoever rebuilt the engine probably didn't tighten the rod bolts correctly
which caused the catastrophic failure.

I forgot to say that also there were 9 newer style 12 point allen-style (I
know they aren't allen bolts, but you know what I mean) head bolts, and one
of the older socket head style. Awesome. Good job whoever put that engine
together!
