The main issue with the original bolts was this: they were not long enough
to go deep into the block, which created stress on the bolt hole and could
fracture the block. Hence my decision to put ARP studs in the rabbit, it
eliminates the whole issue

When VW changed to stretch bolts for diesels in mid 81 they changed
the block and head to use the new 12mm stretch bolts. The 11mm stretch bolts
were Rabbit gas bolts. There never were 11mm stretch bolts specked for
diesel. 11mm Rabbit Gas stretch bolts is what my old VW mechanic used
instead of the stock non stretch bolts on the diesels that had the 11mm
blocks.
