[Vwdiesel] '85 Jetta Water pump, etc.

I finally got the water pump out tonight. I don't know what it is about
this car--I think I did this job years ago on my old Rabbit, but this
was brutal. Managed to bend up a 1/4" drive extension getting the
hidden bolts out of the a/c bracket. I guess I'll torque them until
it's straight again..... Never did get a wrench to fit in there.
I'm doing the timing belt at the same time, seeing's it's under a lot of
the same parts and by comparison is a walk in the park. There was a
discussion about timing belt tensioners a while ago. Just for a data
point, my tensioner bearing was definitely blown. That's with about
140,000 miles on that engine. I'm not going to say that my Dad, who is
a cheapskate, replaced it at any other point in its 318,000 miles
either. The new bearing was stiff, but at least it wasn't crunchy and
wobbly. I feel it was well worth the price. It's also a pleasure to do
the timing belt on this car after doing the same job on my TDI. Yowsa.
