As long as that engine was offered in the states in that car with a manual in that year, you should have no problem. The issue becomes finding an ECU from a Manual car that will run the engine. For instance, switching an A8 to manual is somewhat of a dificult thing, because they were never sold over here with a manual, and even overseas they are rare.

That transmission is probably the DSG, which is not really an automatic, but rather a dual clutch computer controlled manual. Although, it does automatically change the gears, so I guess it's an "automatic" of sorts :)

Ya, a tad expensive but the HP gains are rediculous. When you think about it the gains from the tune and downpipe are more per $$$ then the previous models. Father has the 09 sportwagen for this reason. The company he works for took away the company car program but they help cover costs of a car. In doing so they say you HAVE to have a car 5 years old or less. He puts 60K on a year so it makes sense to have the new TDI. If it works out good for him I may buy the car when it is 5 years old. Only thing is it is an auto and I don't like there $300 40K mile tranny oil changes. But the new autos seem to hold up much better. Haven't looked into swapping to a manual as I don't know what that takes in the newest gen car. I know on the MKIV gen car isn't that bad. Computers are the issue here.
