[Vwdiesel] 2001 Golf TDi juice drain (fwd)

Ok, so I went off topic. I can't post links on this email, but search "Photoresponse mapping of photovoltaic cells" you'll get a product which maps
the response of the cell.

Radiant energy is measured (and calculated) for various regions. For example,
I live in western NY, and our harnessable energy averages at 6 kW / m**2 / day.

If you were in Pheonix AZ, you would see about 9 kW / m**2 / day.

If you are in a cloudy area, more of the radiant energy received will be
in the IR band, and less in the visible band. This is OK, because
silicon tends to be very responsive to IR. Doping silicon can modify
the responsiveness (ability to generate power) with different frequencies
of light.

Cell formulation as I used it, refers to the structure and composition of
the photovoltaic cell, where different attributes of the cell are
traded so that performance, yield, cost, etc can be optimized for
the desired product.

If you find a solar contractor in you area, his engineer can probably tell
you what average yield you will get in that region. Winter days are shorter,
the sun is at a lower angle, and there may be more cloud cover. These
affect available energy.

I'm sorry if I mumble jumbo'd you. I used terms in my trade (not
solar energy) making a comment, in what is really a VW diesel list.
I was essentially trying to say that not all solar cells perform the
same, and that it was possible for properly formulated or designed cells
to perform well in the winter. I live in Western NY, between two great
lakes, with lots of clouds, and even so, we have 2/3 the energy
generating capability for a solar panel in Arizona.

BTW, for the record, the theoretical limit of crystalline silicon
photovoltaic cells is just under 29%, or about the chemical to
mechanical efficiency of a VW diesel engine.

Email me if you have questions, and I'll try to do a better job of addressing
them, and pointing you to better resources than I.
