  I've never had nor even heard one myself.  We did look at a Cherokee 
diesel that 
we were hoping a bad injector was making the noise.  When we hooked up an 
oil pressure gauge and saw it move as the noise started, then move the 
other way 
when it stopped, we decided it was indeed a rod bearing and my friend's 
wife 
wasn't going to tolerate him buying something that was going to sit in the 
driveway 
for a couple weeks before it could be driven.  :-(  Shame, she left him 
just a year or 
so after that.  He'd probably still have the Jeep.
