[Vwdiesel] Poop! Update

  Well, it's running and fixed but not fixed.  
  I finally got to look at a wiring diagram.  I have power coming out of 
the fuse 
panel but NOT getting to the engine compartment.  I jumped power to the 
fuel stop solenoid's circuit, under the hood, and the car would run.  
According 
to the diagram there are no junctions between the two places other than a 
welded splice in the harness.  Checked with a friend that does a lot of 
electrical 
on VW's and he said he's never seen a splice fail, yet it's the only 
explanation 
I can find.  
  I grabbed a couple of Scotchlock connectors and a couple feet of wire, 
poked a 
hole in a wire gromet, fed the wire through the firewall and jumped the 
circuit 
from just behind the fuse panel to the solenoid on the firewall that's on 
the same 
circuit.  The car now runs as it should.  
  Now I just need a new air filter (the old one was satuated with diesel 
from the 
fuel filter drain dripping) and pull the bumper and check the brace behind 
it.  Dad 
and I kinda slid into eachother a week or so ago on his iced over driveway. 
 I 
was going down, he came up at the same time and ... BUMP.  :-P
   Nice to have it fixed but I'd rather have found a loose connection.
