Gasket thickness has no relevance to turbo/na.  Thickness is determined by 
piston protrusion above block. This is determined by machining variance by 
the building engineer.

All blocks beyond a certain age were 'turbo' compatable I believe. Engine 
codes MF, RA, SF, CY all turbo, but CY could be hydraulic or mechanical 
valve adjusters. Engine codes are scratched under the side water outlet of 
the head...

does anybody have the rabbit/jetta IDI turbo block casting numbers or is 
there another way to differentiate between turbo
block and NA? Are there any other differences in the cylinder head/block 
besides a thicker head gasket and the piston
squirters?
