Hello bryan, i have not forgot about u. I am a self employed builder with a regular residential client base which seemed to need more attention when the heat wave and then the storms came through. I have a question that maybe someone has a thought or two on.
I have a NA 1.6 motor of unknown mileage, acquired from a scrap yard. before it went into the cabrio, along with it's matching 5spd trans i changed out the timing belt and rear main seal as i replaced the clutch. I had run it, outside the car to be sure it sounded, sound, before i changed out the items mentioned. the project took me 18 plus months to get it on the road with parts and work time delays. the car ran briskly when i first drove it though it sat for 10 months again where it developed several quirks like: it always starts easy, with glow, jumping to about 1500rpm for 10 seconds and smoked a bit, eventually coming to a loping idle. After 10 plus starts of 20 min. or more it would start and go to a smooth idle, no smoke though it now has a loss of power, no guts over a small hill and is beginning to struggle at idle, seeing not able to rev normally. I feel like it is wanting fuel and so i am going to go through the fuel delivery system, filters, fuel solenoid and i noticed a wet section of fuel line under the car . I will also re-check the valve timing though that is just to Produce a base line of correctness. with all the heat and then storms in chicago, my customer work has been brisk though i hope to find some wrenching time over the weekend.thanks, ray
Oh, I will need to purchase a dial indicator, is the kit the way to go.

Hi bryan, thanks for being patient, i am trying to determine whether i can modify my older rabbit engine mount to fit the new jetta engine IP bracket, that would be easiest for me. I was hoping your oil pressure gauge was a little lower priced and am ready to pull the trigger when the ip bracket issue is resolved.
