besides low freon, you could have a bad expansion valve.  No cooling without the freon expanding through the valve.  I had one that would stick.  Tap, please note I said TAP, on it with a wrench or a small hammer.  It should be mounted on the firewall.  If it is the expansion valve, you will have to evacuate the system, remove and replace, evacuate again, then recharge.  Hayden
