[Vwdiesel] TDI EGR Delete-experiences?

Would it not be effective to just use a thin 0.040" aluminum sheet; in-line
with a tube?

As part of an engine swap I removed the bolts from one of the 2-bolt EGR
tube flanges near the intake manifold, removed the gasket and used it as a
template on the 0.040" aluminum sheet to create a block and reassembled it.
Had other problems with the installation and removed the block (not changing
the issue) but when I found the problem was a vacuum line I didn't replace
the block. It did not cause an issue in the 100 miles or so it was in there.
I believe it would have been effective and did not cause a CEL because there
is no flow indicator in the EGR system and depends only on the position
sensor in the EGR valve for 'normal' operation. (ALH engine)
