[Vwdiesel] mkII diesel valve adjustment

Hey folks,
I had the timing belt done on my 1985 Jetta Diesel (non-turbo) and asked
the mechanic to check the valve clearances. A few were a little tight, and
a couple a bit loose. I've only done the valves on a vw diesel once, and
am not used to the whole puck system. I've done several on my MB's, but
these seem a bit easier. I believe that I need a couple special tools for
compressing the spring and popping the puck out. How can I either, buy,
make, or substitute something for these tools?
Also, I guess that I need to go in to the valve cover, remove the pucks,
get their tolerances, do the math to figure out what pucks are needed, then
put it back together till I can order the pucks needed. Is there a simpler
way? Does anyone know of a good online tutorial on the process?
Also, I found a few months back a webpage that listed all the different
parts from other cars that could fit a mkII VW, anybody know what that site
is called? I can't find it now!
Thanks,
Chris
