[Vwdiesel] 1.5 beetle

Just my 2 cents... Off the top of my head the '69 Beetle was the first
Independent Rear Suspension Beetle with 4 bolt wheels. The '68 was the only
year that had 4 bolt wheels and swing axles. '67 still had the old giant 5
bolt pattern wheels. I think the '69 was the last year for the smaller
front turn signals... They grew in size in '70. '70 also added cooling
slots to the engine lid. I think the headrests on the seats were still wide
like in '68. But it's still a front torsion bar suspension "real" Beetle
with the "body on frame" design which the Beetle had for decades, not a
Super Beetle with the McPherson strut front ends which make the front of the
car more unibody contruction. A rusted out Super Beetle is junk, where as a
rusted out regular Beetle is salvagable.
So you can guess my next statement. I've owned 3 air-cooled VW's in my
life. If it's still in relatively good condition, why would you want to
butcher it to death by hacking a water-cooled engine and radiator into it?
Sell or trade the diesel engine for an air-cooled engine and save this
little guy!
Joe
