Problem Solved!!! First tried getting a code off my OBD-2 code reader. No luck. Tried cycling the fuel pump instead 3 times, 5 or 6 times. No luck. Decided to try the either start fluid approach & went to remove the air intake hose where it connects to the intake manifold. Found I had failed to attach it which I then did. Then went to start it & it ran like a charm!!! Moral or lesson: The MAF or mass airflow sensor is so sensitive that if the airflow is not what it should be, the car won't start. Might be true for other sensors too? Lesson learned from my Focus may be applicable to TDI's too.
