[Vwdiesel] voltage regulator issues in 92 Jetta TD (fwd)

Back to the tread, voltage reg worked on the way home, just does not work on slow idle when crawling in traffic.  It actually says it will do that on one of the web sights that sells the bosch unit I purchased, go figure.  Still need to take the back of the alternator off and look at the contacter ring on the shaft like you said and flatten in out again with file to get the grooves out of it that I can feel.

I am still a few weeks away from finding time to finish prepping and a garage to shoot the car with epoxy primer, have good stuff, but a friend is doing the paint, not me.

I will not leave the bug out in damp weather with the cheap primer I have on the car just to keep it.  I would hope I can do an oil change and timing belt swap in an afternoon.
thanks all.

Don't  stop at primer...it passes water and oxygen.

Unless you use an epoxy primer.  I used to use Ditzler's NCP  (now
Deltron I guess) until the price doubled a few times.  Something  equivalent will
do the same thing.  Properly prime, build and be sandable  as well as be
durable and waterproof.  Their DP primer sealer is apparently  uncopied last
time I checked.  Goes on bare metal BEFORE you apply any  filler even, then
over, then filler primer then as a sealer, still tacky before  topcoat.
