Hi Ray; I have to leave for work in a few minutes and will email you more
this evening. For now what you want is out there provided by VW as stock.
You need an early Quantum turbo diesel wagon. It comes with a 1.6 turbo
diesel and a 5 speed. That is the engine and tranny that I have just
installed into a 90 VW Fox 2 door Wagon. The Fox wagon is small and light
and has a 92 inch wheelbase. A Dasher or early Quantum Wagon has 4 doors and
is longer. Both come stock with either gas or diesel.

I need a wagon for carrying smaller amounts of tools as an assist to a van i
drive for my small business in home restoration.
My question is whether to explore the dasher version or the 91-97 passat
chassis. i have always felt the dasher had bit morestorage capacity and was
sturdier though most of my parts are transverse mounting. the passat could
also be outfitted with someleather seating. the pickup just does not offer
enough room or material protection. currently i am using a 91 jetta td with
a chassis that is coming to the end of it's useful life though the
drivetrain is complete and needs onlyminor attention and could swap in
cleanly. that in mind, i am not sure how much time i have to do such a swap.
that is the dilemma.
