You probably didn't mess anything up. It's probably just that your engine
bearings are pretty well worn out and the change of the pump was enough to
cause the oil pressure to drop below where the light turns on. I'm not
totally certain, but I believe that the rotary pump consumes more oil
pressure. With the rotary pump, the oil passes up through the center shaft
and spill out over the vanes.
I would put an oil pressure gauge on it and find out what the pressure
actually is.
