Congrats on the milestone Shalyn! I don't know if I will make it to 300k on
my 91 but I'm at 238K now and it isn't my main vehicle.

Sprucing it up sounds like a good plan. Makes you feel better all around
knowing it has served you well and can continue to do so.

As for the transmission fluid, yes that would be a good thing to do. I take
it this is a standard and not an automatic with that many miles on it.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Periodic service

Last weekend, I rolled the odometer on the '00 TDI to 300,000 mi.  I stopped
in the parking lot of a liquor store in Waco, TX to take a picture.  That
should be enjoyable for anyone who knows anything about Waco.

I've had a number of mechanical issues with the car over the years, but
honestly, for the miles driven, I'm more surprised at the number of things I
haven't had to fix.  I'm thinking in honor of the occasion, I should fix the
car up a little.  The head's only got 150,000 on it, and the timing belt,
brake, and suspension systems have been rebuilt recently.  I'm thinking of
changing what I'm sure is the original tranny fluid.  The _obvious_ issues
are the aesthetic ones--I really need a new headliner, new carpet, and to
fix some scrapes.  I guess I'll have to track down a carpet kit.  I'll let
someone else put in the headliner--I'd just mess it up.

Any other recommendations?

Oh, and thanks to the list--I would have never got the car past 150,000
without the technical help and the encouragement.

-Shalyn
