Hi  Publius;
There are many thousands of miles of roads in Washington state that have
speed limits that make no sense. The simple answer is don't speed. When you
do make the decision to disobey the speed limit you take on the
responsibility of the fine if you receive one. I am older now (72) and I don't see as
much need to hasten my death plus I drive mostly in rigs powered by a VW
1.6 N/A diesel. I no longer collect many speeding tickets. In my younger days
driving the likes of a Porsche 356A, Lotus Elite, Alfa Romao Spyder ETC I
used to have a pocket full of speeding tickets most of the time.

I had several and most were simple, minor oversights, for very short
distances before I realized it, just a few seconds after a cop realized it. :-(
 I don't think I've EVER received a ticked when I was intentionally
speeding. They used to be really nasty around here. I had one pull me over and
tell me he paced me at 61mph. I'd seen him slowly gain on me for miles
while I was doing dead on 55mph. Luckily he saw a friend in the car and
apparently didn't decide to push it and wrote me a warning. :-P An uncle was
cited for failure to yield when he was rear ended by a motorcycle. Also got
a 57mph in a 55 as the Trooper said that was the fastest he'd ever seen
someone tearing up that hill (in a 240D) uh huh. Someone I talked to got a
55mph ticket in a 55mph zone! "He was pushing it."
They're way better now, or at least have been. I'd think a fake
construction zone would be deemed a "speed trap" which is illegal in WA,
supposedly anyway.
