[Vwdiesel] jetta to trade and engine swap thoughts/links86

I have a 91 jetta 1.9td, non tdi that i would trade plus money for a cummins diesel pickup, up to say 96 with added cash of course.
secondly, for my smaller viehicle, i would like a diesel vw wagon. i have found one here in the chicago area that is a 91 passat 4cyl with auto trans.I have done such a conversion on a 86 cabrio which required i change out the steering rack in order to mount up the manual trans shift linkage.
my question is: besides engine mounts, axles, linkages and some minor electrical circuitry, is there a larger modificationthat would be required to bolt in the diesel drive train.i am not seeing anything on the vortex discussing such a swap, also, the tdi's i see are ridiculously priced and besides i know my diesel drive trainsand would like to use on of them. is there any benefit to searching for a vr6 based manual trans vehicle as it is outfitted with a heavier suspension and manual trans equip already.
