Typical.

My 6.1 A2, (89) will not heat up in today's weather unless I take it out on
the hightway and flog it.

Around town, the engine does not generate enough heat to warm the interior
of the car.

Flip side, if troubled by overheating climbing a mountain in  summer, open
all windows, turn on heater full blast, and enjoy a cool engine.

I think the heater core with fan on full, equals about 40% of the radiator
with its fan off / non-functional.

I used my heater to get up the mountain to a ham radio repeater site for a
summer, before I got around to fixing the rad fan, wnich was never needed
except for slow hill-climbs (no "forced draft from forward motion)
