[Vwdiesel] thermostat? (fwd)

Pretty Typical.  I can run around with no heat, until I hit the expressway,
then it climbs.  It will also use alternator power because it runs the 
coolant glow plugs.  When doing the timing best, swap in a 87C thermostat.
IDI car was worse...lower power, no glowplugs in coolant.  With the 91, I 
could drive my daughter to school, and no real heat until I hit the expressway
25 miles later. 

There are reasons why a 6 cyl gasser might be better in the winter.

I just can't think of them.
