Very sorry to hear Peter, please let the group know what caused the failture when you find out.  That sort of thing has happened to many of us, that's what makes a VW a VW, you never know what they are going to throw at you next.....

  So after all my bragging about how great my truck was 
running it suffered some sort of catastrophic engine failure
today.  Soooooo, I'm in the market for a complete, running, 1.6
na.  Preferably somewhere here in sunny southern california. Any
leads would be appreciated.  Thanks
