[Vwdiesel] Caddy diesel steering rack

There is a pre-load adjustment screw (w/ jam nut) on the back side of the rack, just below
where the steering shaft attaches. I tightened up the rack in my old '81 Rabbit and it
helped tighten up the steering. Mine was loose due to wear from a CV joint that was
slowly going bad and it created a slight wobble in the front end. To get to the screw,
you need to unclamp the rack, pull it away from the firewall and loosen the jam nut. Then
tighten the screw a little bit, lock the jam nut down and clamp the rack back up. It took
me 2-3 tries to get it just right, you don't want to tighten the screw fully as that will
be too tight. When I got mine right, I found it was solid in the rack from maybe -75% to
+75% and it was a bit stiff past the 75% steering point for a few weeks. But after making
a few weeks of u-turns, etc. the ends of the rack loosened up to match the center.
