[Vwdiesel] New to me tdi

The radio is factory, though I don't know about the speakers.  It might be worth a look to see if they have been changed-possibly wires got mixed up.

But there is definitely a problem with the radio, as even the volume knob doesn't work right all the time either.  Sometimes it won't adjust the volume at all, sometimes the volume indicator bar will move on the display but the volume won't change.

As far as the suspension, I am not sure about going with "upgraded" versus just factory suspension.  I had been driving a Corrado with suspension that was set up for auto crossing, and it had gotten really really old.

I like good handling but don't need to be jarred all over the place.  Perhaps a GTI setup?  Any other suggestions?

I think  the suspension may be a bit worn out (it is a bit soft feeling)
but not really  unexpected.  The only real annoyance is the radio seems
wonky-sometimes  the volume dial does nothing, sometimes it works but still
doesn't seem to get  very loud and all the adjustment knobs (bass, fader, etc)
don't do  anything.

I'm hoping I can pull it out and clean them up with some  electrical
cleaner and that'll fix that.

Slightly loose rear wheel bearing or that low tire might be the  loose
feeling.
Almost sounds like the speaker wires are hooked up wrong.  (if it  isn't a
dying head unit).  Crossed wires can do all kinds of fun stuff to
radio/speaker controls.
