[Vwdiesel] sloppy shifting all of the sudden in A2 Jetta

Yup.  The plastic ball in there split or something.  Right as he backed out of the driveway to test drive the car.  So he was stuck there blocking traffic for a couple minutes until I noticed it flopping around underneath and figured out it wasn't just him having trouble driving a stick shift.

That caused something in the linkage to pop off, so we put it back and they were able to hold the shifter up to very carefully shift it and do a drive.

I had driven the darn car even that day just a couple hours earlier with no problems at all.

I agree that Roger's parts are great!

While looking around, though, have someone manipulate the shifter.  This part
<http://www.germanautoparts.com/Volkswagen/Rabbit/Transmission/407/1>
broke on the Banana Rabbit when the guy who bought it went to back out of my
driveway!

He backed out, but couldn't get it into first gear!  The shifter was flopping
around under the car!

Didn't really put me in a good place when it came time for negotiations...

Bryan,
I have used Rogers parts and they are a proven winner...cured problems
both my 85 golf and my 81 Caddy.
