Water.  I turned the garden hose on just a little so there wasn't enough water pressure to spin the turbines much, if at all.

That is what everyone was doing it with who was rinsing them out on tdi club.  At one point, I had the hose into the exhaust manifold part, and I could tell a difference in how the water was coming out the turbo exhaust side by how I had the VNT lever positioned.  So I knew the vanes were actually moving.

I had the oil ports covered, and didn't get anything into the blower side.

That's nice to hear Dave.

One Q, what did you "rinse it out" with? :)  I'd feel funny about spraying
my turbo out with a hose.. :)
