[Vwdiesel] starter issue , one final thing

yeap, my re-man. start has a sticker warning not to whack it with a hammer.

all battery cables are CLEAN, I have an upgraded monster cable from Pos. battery terminal to solenoid, only 3 feet long and thick
Remember, battery is in the back for stock setup of Vanagon Diesel.
I removed and cleaned connections when camping hoping that would change something, but no go.

The starter repair shop swapped the solenoid already with a known good used one.  looks like I need another re-man. starter.  I am pretty sure my engine is not locked up or full of mice....but we have caught quite a few in the basement in the past week.  Maybe they are revolting !!

Don't think I can get any of my $65 back from the starter place either.  errr.

I will let ya all know later.
thanks all.

Carefully! a hammer blow can destroy the permanent magnets in the diesel
starter (there was often a warning sticker on them forbidding that).

Not so on the old gas starter which uses electromagnets for the field.
