[Vwdiesel] Trip in April

Not sure if I'm the Dave you are talking about, but I am in Manhattan, KS.  You would be welcome out here of course, or maybe I could head west, depending on when you are through.

There is a cool slider burger stand that has been in Salina since the 20s.  It has been featured on various Travel-Channel-type shows as a place you should eat before you die, or some such.

Looks like we're heading to KS again this year (visit mother-in-law).  
IIRC, we're leaving April 9, taking I-90 to Billings MT (I think) where  
there's a Best Western Lodge my wife likes.  Then it's I-90 until we meet I  25, 
to somewhere from Denver to just into KS, on I-70.  Third day is I-70  to 
I-135 a bit south of McPherson.  
  Return trip sounds like we'll be heading out midday the 18th, West  
through Dodge City, NW corner of TX, and across central NM and AZ on I-40, to  
Bullhead City for probably a day.  Not sure where our stops will be, looks  
likely near Albuquerque (I'll be sure to take that left turn!)
  From there, North, likely through Vegas then across Nevada on Hwy 93  
until we hit I-84 near Twin Falls ID, until about Tri-Cities WA then home.  
I'd rather go on over and up through CA and OR but that's another day of  
driving!

  Anybody along the way that's willing to put up with my wife and I  for a 
night, lunch, or a few minutes at a truck stop?  Meeting some of you  on 
this trip helps make it more fun and bearable.  (about halfway there, I  can 
understand the pioneers settling in strange places, I feel like just calling  
Dad, telling him to sell everything, we're staying right HERE!  I don't  
feel like driving any further!)
  Looks like I might get a chance to meet Andrew on this new route  home!  
:-)  Of course through Jim and Dave's neighborhood but Jon  and Travis have 
moved sinc our last trip.  :-(

  Slight deviation suggestions are welcome.  Wouldn't want to  miss seeing 
someone or something that's right off the path since we're already  this far 
from home!

  Before we go I have to do the timing belt, injectors and rear shocks  on 
the Passat.  If I upgrade the injectors and chips then I have to do the  
clutch too.  Not sure if time and money permit but it'd be more fun and at  
least 50mpg too!
