I know I'm a bit late on this but I run my Kubvan on WVO. I have not been doing my own filtering yet but that will be my summer project.
I have some knowledge on the conversion but am not scientifically smart. I use a marine tank that I built a heated fuel pick up coil in, a hose in hose fuel feed to a stock VW fuel filter wrapped with a heated coil. Just before a Pollak fuel selector valve the WVO goes through a 28 plate flat plate heat exchanger. It takes about 5 miles for enough temp to switch to the WVO tank but I give it about 10 miles for the purge. So I only use the WVO on drives over 25 miles or so.
If anyone here needs a little bit more detail or pics of my set up please feel free to drop me a note to:

I still got to figure out the cost but it was pretty much on the cheap, I did any fabrication myself and used mostly off the shelf parts. Looks factory and simple.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] second tank heated
Being old and cheap my second tank setup in my Turbo Fox 2dr
diesel station wagon will consist of a 24 gallon fuel tank from an old boat
out back. I will mount it where the back seat used to be. Two solenoid
switches cheap Chevy pickup parts from my local small truck recycler. A used
VW water to oil cooler which will be plumbed with hot water from the engine
and used to heat the stock Bosch fuel filter. I did pop for a 150 dollar 30
plate water heated oil heater so that my fuel goes into the injection pump
at 160 degrees +. Some miscellaneous hoses and fittings and I should be able
to go.
The stock fuel system will remain intact and the 24 gallon
heated tank should give me a thousand mile WO range on the Fox before I
would need to use the diesel.
