[Vwdiesel] stranded

I had something like that happen, but I fixed it on the side of the road and I didn't figure it counted.... I was far more than 8 miles out, it was late at night and rainy. I knew instantly that's what'd happened. I did have some wire in the car so I spliced in a line from the battery somehow. It started up great. While congratulating myself, I noticed the smoke rolling out from under the hood and the dash. The selenoid wire stub found a ground and proceeded to burn up to the point of glowing. I shut it down and ripped at the wire. I then figured out that no one stops for a scrawny bearded man standing beside an old car in the middle of a rainy night . I eventually just pieced it back together and drove the 75 miles home.
Something similar piecing together the accelerator cable on the side of I-635 with traffic rattling the car.
I figure the fixability is part of the draw.

The only stranded story I have is with the Jetta and it really wasn't a
stranded one but the wire to the IP broke off from the vibration and I
didn't have anything to connect it with at the time late at night. But I was
only 8 miles from home so it all worked out.
