I can count a few times:
1989 acura
Dead alternator in tennessee on first day of drive to yellowstone np. Had
it towed and fixed pretty quick.
1980 mb 300td with veggie kit
Blew out a reman cv joint in phoenix az on a cross country trip. Car quit
moving after a loud clank at a red light, 5 miles from my aunt and uncles
house. Found a mercedes list member nearby who offered his garage, and a
junk yard with another cv axle. A few days later we were back on the road.
The used cv njoint lasted just about a year...
Thats all i can remember of multiple cross country drives in cars 20 plus
years old.
