Perhaps the horn and airbag are connected? Clock spring or something not connected properly in the steering wheel or just below it.
Autozone or similar should be able to point you in the direction of the check engine light.

Hard to say without a wiring diagram and sometimes someone who knows the common failures or where connections are.

Just bought a 1997 Mercedes E300 diesel. Has 185,000 miles & looks like new.
verything works except the horn. The check engine & SRS airbag light & check
ngine lights stay on. Have checked all the fuses & they are all good. There are
locations for the fuses. Under the hood, left side of the instrument panel
ccessible when you open the left door, & under the rear seat where the battery
lso lives. When I bypass the horn circuit the horn works so the problem is
omewhere in the circuitry. Any good idea where to look? The prior owner said
he check engine & air bag light have been on for the last 20,000 miles. I plan
n driving back to Minn. next week leaving on Tuesday, 5/29 & would like to
rive the Mercedes but can take my Ford Focus instead. Ideas?
