[Vwdiesel] hitch saga

Well, I decided to try out the hitch for real tonight. Towed the boat to the lake! I had my friend follow me with his Pathfinder just in case. When we got there, I backed the boat all the way into the lake and pulled out to see if it would work. Kinda like a "touch and go" that a newby pilot does. It was fine. So we put it in the water and cruised around for a bit, and it had no problems pulling it out again, and even went up the big hill you have to go up once you are off the ramp fine, too.
A guy pulling a little John boat with his big Toyota Tundra at the top of the hill was pretty impressed. He asked if "it came that way?" and took a picture!
I had my friend's wife take a few pics of me on the road. I added them to the facebook album here:

I lived in Klamath Falls in the 90s... I know the feeling. And that was before ecommerce got going very big, so basically if you couldn't get it at WalMart or Fred Meyer, you were driving an hour to Meford... if you were lucky enough to find it there.
That was okay though, it was an excuse to get the hell out of K Falls. :)

Try living here. Captive audience. Even the box stores seem to have the "<snort> Where else you gonna
