Hi Bud;

                Around 1970 I had a 1962  Mercedes 180 D  N/A that was
slower than molasses but it would get 32 on the highway which was a lot
better than my 1957 Cadillac Coupe D'Ville

No, more like 20 mpg.  I was averaging 46 around town and highway with the
Golf.  I'm averaging 26 with the Mercedes.

The Merc is a boat, it's great.  But I miss my VW, that's why I'll be
working on it!

Well my 1985 Golf 1.6L NA finally started burning oil after 175K on my
limited rebuild.  She's parked in the driveway.  I picked up a 1979 300SD
cheaper than I can do a real rebuild, so I've been working the kinks out of
her.

Hopefully next year I'll either rebuild or replace the engine in the Golf.
