[Vwdiesel] Injection pump timing?

I removed the extra external throttle switch from my pump and believe the
only thing electronic on it is the shut off solenoid. It was sold to me as
an AAZ and a mfr date on the alternator is 4/95 as my memory serves me. Ill
check for other connections and for part number of pump. I just want it to
run at optimum for the heavy beast it is pushing down the road. Thanks for
