[Vwdiesel] WTB: Diesel Vanagon Input Shaft

I talked to a guy at German Transaxle in Oregon this afternoon.  

He
 stated that I was thinking incorrectly, that indeed my input shaft 
could be shortened, though he did stress it should be done carefully so 
that the needle bearing would seat and work correctly, and because of 
this it might be preferable to use a shorter one but not the end of the 
world.

He is correct, if you do not mind the mess, 11mm also comes to mind for the length, just cut off the end of the shaft and smooth it out, that is all they did with the factory shaft as well, it is just a cut off gasser shaft, not a special mold.

You can just cut a few mm of the vanagon/bay gasser input shaft or call a
rabbi to do it...  11mm works well if memory serves.
