[Vwdiesel] Has anyone changed the clutched Alt. pulley

OK, Now I need double check my timing and tensioner, turning the motor in the correct direction. In the bendtly, they say turn the motor in the direction it will fire, but they do not say clock wise or counter.
From looking at the fins of the waterpump, I guess they can work going in the other direction, just does not make sense to me.
Thanks Andrew.
I found out what the singing noise was on the Jetta Wagon, it is not the clutched alt. pulley, it was the down pipe coming off the turbo I suspect.
It must have been cracked, for sure it was, because I would see exhaust coming from the back of the head on cold morning, and the vibration of the crack would make that sound I was hearing.
so, if you ever get a sing, it could be a cracked Stainless steel down pipe.

No, it runs clockwise.

thanks all, I will give it a shot still bolted to the block after removing the intake hose from the intercooler, I have a big cheater bar, so I will let you know.

>Yes, it can be done in the car. You do need a helluva cheater bar to get leverage to break that bolt loose, but I was able to get it done.

>>PS, need to vent. I just love the clearance you have when taking the right side motor mount off the block on the BEW motors, I would guess the other engines models with Injection pumps are just as tight. It is crazy, how much stuff you have to get out of the way to get things off, this is while the motor is being held up by a small jack and block of wood, with front of car up on ramps.
