There have been a lot of spoofs on my end lately, where some individual
harvests an email address from a forum such as this using google, then sends
spam email back to that group using the assumed identity to get by spam
filters. this is most likely a similar thing, doesn't even have to be a
virus or such involved- I've been getting stuff that appears to originate
from some stock car buddies that are either ads for limp noodle pills, or a
redirect to a malicious site.
Wouldn't sweat it, usually after a few uses, they change it up to a
different address, as the spam filters have blocked them after a few spoofs.

Of course if you figure that the mail comes from vwfans.com then that's
the domain you 'd have to add to stop it, which would stop all list mail.
It was just the one. I've had a few friends "send" me something somewhat
similar. Seems to be a trojan mailer in those cases. Not sure which this
is.

I have, but I added the domain to my filter list right away. Haven't got ne
since. You can add the domain with wild cards to a rule list in hatever
clients you use.
Cheers,
