[Vwdiesel] bad brakes on 2001 Jetta

Hi Andrew;
Your experience is way different than mine. I have been into Dead
Rabbit Rescue for about 20 years. Before I learned to pressure bleed about 4
or 5 years ago I think I had to replace a master cylinder at least one in
four times I used the pump it up and hold it to the floor method to bleed
brakes. We are not talking about catastrophic failure just the fact that
when you are done with the job the master cylinder would slowly bleed down
as you were applying the brakes.

While that is feasible, it's not at all likely, IMO. Over the last 20+
years I have bled numerous brake systems and hydraulic clutch systems by
stomping the pedal to the floor and never, not once, had it damage the
master cylinder. If that ever were to happen I would count myself lucky as
I'd sure rather have the master fail when bleeding the brakes than to have
it do so on a panic stop.
