@brian decker, hey brian, is there a brand or brands of pyrometer that u would recommend.
also, to group at large, where are people adding gauges to the interior, a pillar mount or dash opening.
i have a 90 passat wagon i need to add several gauges: pyro, oil pressure, ammeter, and boost.

just a note on a little experiment i am doing, i have come across another passat wagon and will be engineering a td motor install. i am sure this has been done a number of times and so if anyone knows of a thread regarding some of the details i would greatly appreciate not having to invent the wheel on engine mounts, axle build and shifter components. to be clear i have a 1.9 (a mod also) out of a 91 jetta and the receiving car is a 5 lug suspension passat (former vr6), manual trans. there are three engine/trans mount positions (minus the forth - lower trans mount that we typically see), the shifter is cable driven in the passat and i will be using the older shifter rods, i am hoping the shifting box will bolt in. lastly i am thinking the spline hub on the 5 lug will be different than the 4 lug jetta (therefore axles) and so i will need to change out the outer axle cv and spline. i appreciate any thoughts/experience anyone might add. the passat wagon is solid though not as clean as i would like though i thought it is worth the time to explore this swap, work through the details and maybe if i find a real nice wagon at some point transfer everything to it. i like this wagon as a economical way to move tools at times and i don't think the weight of the chassis will be an issue as i currently drive a similar car with an NA motor that while is slow at some loaded weights, it is not a dangerous slow, that could be my rationalization working though.
thanks for reading and any info. ray in chicago
