[Vwdiesel] TDI in an Allroad Quattro

Hey all - lately I've been seeing some nice specimens of the Audi Allroad
Quattro on the road (the older 99-05 one, not the new edition that just
came out) and it's rekindled a long-standing desire to own one... with a
diesel of course.

Now they are getting older, it may be more affordable to do so.  I know
these cars were available with a diesel plant in Europe, but not in the US,
so I assume I'd be looking at importing a engine/trans or front clip from
the continent, or trying to transplant a domestic 1.9 TDI, which might
leave the car a little underpowered since it's about 1000 lbs heavier than
my Golf.

Does anybody else have any experience with such an undertaking?
