[Vwdiesel] DIY "Panzer Plate"

All I know is that if getting a homemade plate to fit up is physically harder than the pre-fab kits, I don't want any part of it.  I was sore for days after getting mine on.  Granted, I don't have air tools......

It's been great to have on the car--there are several dents in the thing which would have killed my oil pan--but it was a beating to install.

The plate is the easy part-the mounts are the harder part. Unless you have a lot of time, the tools to make (weld/bend) and know where to get the supplies-the cost of the premade kits is actually pretty cheap. Cheaper then the OEM steel ones by about 1/2 as well. I have heard a lot of people ask to make one but I don't honestly thing I have seen a home built one. I am assuming TDI?
